What Our Students Say

Perfect! Miwa is an excellent Japanese language tutor who stands out for her friendliness, punctuality and effective teaching method. In my introductory lesson with her, I was impressed by her ability to seamlessly switch between Japanese and English, which made it easy for me to follow along and learn new words and phrases. Miwa’s approach of using conversations in both languages was particularly helpful, as it allowed me to practice my speaking skills and get immediate feedback on my pronunciation and grammar. Overall, I would highly recommend Miwa to anyone looking for a patient and skilled Japanese language tutor.

My favorite part of being on Sado was spending time with Miwa-san and the wonderful Sasaki family. There were so many activities that we did as a group such as cooking, calligraphy, hiking, and spending quality time together. I was so thankful for how open everyone in the family was in receiving us, and I knew that I was truly welcomed into their home.I was impressed by the beautiful scenery of Sado, as well as how peaceful it was. Also, the kindness of everyone we met was very moving.

Miwa Sensei’s Japanese class is a great choice for students of all levels! Last year, I only knew konnichiwa and arigatou. But in just a few months Miwa Sensei has taught me so much about the Japanese language and culture. Thanks to her, I can confidently maintain conversations about topics of interest as well as those about daily activities.

I enjoyed every moment from learning Japanese to experiencing the culture. Not only was I able to use the Japanese I learned, but I also got to see what it was like in traditional Japanese culture.

The most fun thing I did on Sado Island was spending time with Miwa and the Sasaki Family. Not only learning Calligraphy and cooking but also getting to spend quality time with each person and learning about their lives, their history, and their passions. It was my favorite joy. I was impressed by how peaceful Sado is. It truly is a perfect place filled with amazing people. I recommend someone interested in traditional Japanese culture and the traditional lifestyle to stay here on Sado. I hope they find the inner peace every person deserves.
